Almost enjoyment in an otherwise rubbish day

I’ve just spent the evening teaching my grandparents how to use their new technologies. My Granny has recently got a new smart phone, and now my Grampy has gone and got a new tablet. Showing them how to use it is great fun for me, because I get to push random buttons, and look like I know what I’m doing when I haven’t the foggiest either. I love their simplicity, and their willingness to try new things. I love their excitement when they manage to do something by themselves for the first time. And I love how amazed they are by what phones etc. can do. It makes me wish I’d grown up in their generation, so that I’d really appreciate technology, but also so that I’d be able to live without it.
